If you enjoy helping people and have always wanted to work alongside doctors and nurses in a hospital or medical clinic, consider a career in radiography.
The study of radiography is quite an interesting topic. Often, students choose it for a term paper and later choose X-ray as a profession. Studying and deciphering the images takes some time, so there is a need to have more professionals in this field. Radiographers are the technicians in hospitals and clinics who assist in taking x-rays of patients. They position the patients to get the proper camera angles, administer the diagnostic x-ray, and process the film.
In the Radiographer Program at Western School of Health and Business Careers in Pittsburgh, you can learn to do all of this and earn your Specialized Associate Degree in as little as two years.
Our Radiographer program offers training in both clinical and classroom/laboratory settings. The classroom portion includes extensive instruction in anatomy and physiology, patient positioning, medical terminology, radiographic procedures and film development. We also offer general studies courses in the computer sciences, speech, and business.
The clinical portion will be scheduled by the school at an approved hospital site.
The training you'll receive from our Radiographer program can prepare you to enter the job market in an entry level position in diagnostic radiology, or further pursue your education in a Bachelor's Degree or advance training program.
You are also eligible to sit for national ARRT registry testing. Please note, however, that the registration or certification requirements for taking and passing the examination are not controlled by the school but by outside agencies and are subject to change by the agency without notice to the school.
